The Victorian Chautauqua is a weekend-long festival celebrating the History of Mountain Lake Park with live historical portrayals, music, lectures, and Vaudeville In The Street. Trolley tours of the Historic District run throughout the weekend, and the Kid-Tauqua tent keeps the little ones busy all day. Three large tents house the performances, all immersed in the Victorian charm of this rural resort community established in 1881. Volunteers wear period costumes, and many attendees do, too. Shop the Artisan Row for a unique hand-made treasure, or sit for a hand-cut silhouette or an authentic tintype photo. On Saturday, stroll through the Model T and Vintage Car Showcase. Ask for a ride! Some drivers will be available. On Sunday, take a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride through the Park. Enter the Beard & Mustache Contest or the Women's Hat Competition to win the 2024 Grand Champion trophy. Lots of fun awaits at the Victorian Chautauqua. Admission and parking are free. The little ones will be kept busy at the Kid-Tauqua tent with special programming, activities, and workshops designed exclusively for them. Take a Trolley tour through the Historic District or enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride. Listen for the High Wheelman's bell and ask Brian, the rider, about the first bicycle made for transportation and sport with a 54-inch front wheel. Shop Artisan Row for that unique treasure, or sit for a hand-cut silhouette or an authentic tintype photograph. Volunteers immerse you in the Victorian spirit by wearing period attire, and attendees do, too. It's a weekend you'll never forget! Admission and parking are free.
