The Chamber just reported that the unemployment rate for Garrett County in January was 5.6%, while that of Maryland was 4.3% and the overall US unemployment rate was 4.0%. Of Maryland counties, Howard had the lowest at just 3.2% and Worcester had the highest at 11.5%. Quite a mix.
Speaking of the Chamber, they are holding this month’s HR Roundtable on Wednesday morning from 8:00 am – 9:30 am in the GIEC building at the college. The featured speaker is Valerie Dzbynski with Prescott HR Consulting, who will discuss strategies to deal with rising personnel costs.
