The weather today will be widespread dense fog, mainly before 9am. Otherwise, cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 72 and a low around 58. Calm wind becoming west around 6 mph in the afternoon.

As a local, Autumn Glory is always a weekend I look forward to! I just love the Grand Feature Parade in Oakland on Saturday with the drums of the marching bands feeling like they beat through your chest and the creativity of the local floats and the sounds of those little plastic toy trumpets… we used to live right on Oak Street and there’s just something special different in the air around Autumn Glory.

I used to be in the parade as part of my dance classes, too…. All I remember is that it was a long way to walk!

The Thursday of Autumn Glory is a little sad this year since the Fireman’s Parade and the Oakland Fire Department’s Oktoberfest and Oompah festival are canceled. It’s just feeling a little empty this morning.

The Board of County Commissioners is holding a Public Meeting on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 beginning at 4:00 p.m.

Shrimp on the Barbie is holding an Autumn Glory kick-off tonight at 7:00pm.

Simon Pearce is holding an Autumn Glory Sale and glass-blowing demonstration today.

From 11am to 8pm, the Oakland Elks Lodge is holding a turkey dinner: Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, sauerkraut, cranberries, roll, and pumpkin pie. $12 adults and $10 children. For more information, call 301 334 1119.

Today from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm is the Adult Book Club in Accident, MD.

The Northern Garrett FFA Chapter is partnering with Theatre this year to do something new and exciting! Come out to NHS and enjoy the haunted hayride from 6pm to 9pm.
