Last February, I was thrilled to take part in the filming of Maryland by Air, a stunning new program from Maryland Public Television that captures the natural beauty, rich history, and diverse landscapes of our state—from the sky. Using helicopters, drones, and vintage aircraft, the production team traveled across Maryland to film everything from the thundering shoreline to the peaceful hills of the west—including breathtaking footage of the Deep Creek Lake area that I was proud to help highlight.
Narrated by Maryland legend Cal Ripken Jr., the program offers a bird’s-eye view of iconic locations like the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, Antietam Battlefield, Fort McHenry, Ocean City, and the wild ponies of Assateague Island. The team used gyro-stabilized and 360-degree cameras to achieve silky-smooth footage, capturing golden-hour light across each landscape with precision.
