SGHS to Undergo Renovations in Three Phases

SGHS to Undergo Renovations in Three Phases at Deep Creek Lake, MD

As we approach the beginning of the southern area grade-band alignment and building renovations, we will be taking a look at various aspects of the project in the coming weeks. This week’s focus is on the renovations at Southern Garrett High School.

Renovations will begin at SGHS today, Monday, January 22, 2024. The construction will occur in three phases and is anticipated to be completed by the first day of the 2024-25 school year. Phase I will include renovations in the unoccupied rooms on both levels of the west wing (culinary wing) for seventh and eighth-grade classrooms. Additional renovations will be made in other building areas during Phase I, including but not limited to a new health suite, two science classes and a lab, and a new Allied Health classroom and lab. During this phase, there will be limited distractions that will affect students. Contractors on-site will work only in designated areas throughout the day and before and after hours.

Upon completion of the renovations, rising seventh, eighth, and ninth-grade students from Southern Garrett Middle School will all move to SGHS beginning in Fall 2024. Once phase I is complete, there will be two additional phases. More detailed information on these phases will be released as it is available.
