Rotary Satellite Club Kicks Off Sock Drive

The Oakland Rotary Satellite Club, operating in partnership with the Oakland Rotary, will kick off its 4th Annual Sock Drive on January 15th. Drop off new children’s socks at the following locations through February 19th: Southern Middle School, the Oakland/McHenry branches of First United Bank, Trader’s Coffee Shop, Wildwood Athletic Club, Jazzercise in Oakland, Winner’s Circle, Ruth Enlow Library in Oakland and Grantsville, Gregg’s Pharmacy and Totally Teasin Salon. The donations will go to Garrett County elementary and middle school children in need during the cold winter months.

The Satellite club supports service projects in the community while also helping with the Rotary Christmas Project and of course french fry trailer sales. We welcome new members and hold monthly meetings usually on the first Wednesday of the month at 6:30pm at a local restaurant. If your organization has a need for volunteers, and you think the Satellite club could help, or you’d like to join Rotary Satellite please contact Haley Gillespie, Rotary Satellite President, at hvgillespie@gmail.com.
