Garrett County Public Schools, like other school districts across the state, is seeing an increase in the spread of the flu, colds, COVID-19, Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), and other communicable diseases.
In a continuing effort to keep our schools as healthy as possible, please remember to continue to perform a daily health check every day before sending your child to school. Your child should stay home if they have a fever or are experiencing symptoms associated with any communicable disease, including seasonal flu. COVID-19 and RSV.
Encouraging your child to use good hand hygiene, which means cleaning your hands by washing them with soap and water or using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. This is one of the best ways to avoid getting sick and prevent spreading germs to others.
Free COVID-19 home tests are available at each school. Please follow the GCPS Quarantine and Isolation Guidance, especially for submitting test results.
Although there is no vaccination for RSV, we strongly encourage everyone to consider immunization against COVID-19 and Influenza. Additional information about communicable diseases and immunizations can be obtained from your primary care provider or the Garrett County Health Department.
