Garrett County Public Schools (GCPS) is providing notice to stakeholders regarding two wellness policies. Policy BDFA School Health, Wellness, and Student Nutrition Advisory Committee and Policy JLCG on School Health, Wellness, and Student Nutrition.
As Policy BDFA indicates, a wellness committee is formed to consult with educators, review and set standards for nutrition, ensure food marketing policies, and permit public participation in the school health and wellness policy process. GCPS is soliciting individuals who may be interested in serving on the committee. Roles may be filled by students, teachers, parents, or community members. The committee will meet two times each year. Duties include but are not limited to recommending policy updates based on the triennial assessment and recommending wellness initiatives for students and staff.
