Garrett Regional Medical Center launches new website

Garrett Regional Medical Center has launched a new, easy to use website that more accurately reflects the growing list of patient services available at the 55-bed inpatient facility.

The new site, found at www.grmc-wvumedicine.org, incorporates the colors and essential design elements of the WVU Medicine network, with which GRMC is affiliated. While the colors and design are reflective of WVU, the new site maintains the essence and character of Garrett Regional Medical Center (GRMC), ensuring that the website reflects the local hospital that has long served the Garrett County region.

“We wanted to update our site to make sure our patients can find physicians and services as quickly and easily as possible,” says Kendra Thayer, Senior Vice President of Patient Services and Chief Nursing Officer. “While our old site contained some of the basic information found at www.grmc-wvumedicine.org, it was not easy to navigate. Plus, as our services grew, it was cumbersome adding them to our online profile. With our new web address, updating the material is much easier, and in general, we think our patients and their families will find the new site easier to navigate and that it houses better, more useful information.”

Since affiliating with WVU Medicine in 2015, Garrett Regional Medical Center has added a number of specialty services not typically found in rural hospitals. The addition of health care specialties such as nephrology and heart and vascular care has enabled residents of GRMC’s service area, which includes approximately 46,000 people living in communities in Maryland, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania, to receive the care they need close to where they live.

Services profiled on the hospital’s new website include ophthalmology, orthopaedics, nephrology, heart and vascular care, surgery, cancer care, internal medicine, palliative care, emergency services – the list is lengthy. The site also allows for a seamless job application process for potential employees, and even allows patients or family members to thank a nurse or other caregiver by filling out a simple, online form. Once the form is submitted, the caregiver will be recognized by the hospital for a job well done.

“Our goal is to ensure that the health care needs of our community are met,” says Mark Boucot, CEO and President of GRMC. “We have been able to make great strides in the medical services we provide since our affiliation with WVU Medicine. Our new website makes it easy for patients and community members to find information about their local health care facility, and to locate information they may find useful regarding their health overall. We hope the community sees our site as a tool to facilitate health care access.”
