Race Results for the Garrett Co Composite Mountain Biking team at Rosaryville State Park Oct 1st, 2023
Season 2023 race season opener
After the first scheduled race was postponed due to poor trail conditions, the rescheduled event took place on October 1, 2023. The 4.2 mile MICL Rosaryville race course was mostly flat, flowy single track trails with small sections of technical obstacles which allowed the Garrett County Coyote mountain bikers to put down extremely fast laps times and enjoy a break for the typically Garrett County climbs and rocks! As a team the Coyotes finished in 9th place out of 25 teams.
In the Boys Varsity Div., Nathan Aldridge had a great start to the 1st race of his senior year, but a wreck on the 1st lap caused him to fall off the leaders pace. He pushed through 4 laps to earn an 8th place finish in the 17 mile race. Jackson Hordubay competed in the Boys High School 1 division where he raced hard for 12.6 miles to finish in 12th place with a time of 1:01:44. In the Boys HS3 division, freshman Jason VanAntwerp battled through a field of 86 other riders for 8.4 miles. He finished with a time of 44 mins. 22 seconds to earn an 8th place finish. In the 8th Grade Boys div., Cam Hudnall overcame a hard wreck on his first of 2 laps to finish 18th place in 46 mins 11 seconds.
The Coyote girls had amazing races. Ashlynn Anderson put down 2 impressive laps to finish in 3rd place in the Girls HS1 division with a time of 48:10. Helping the Coyotes in the middle school division was 7th grader Abby VanAntwerp. Competing in her first race ever, she finished the 8.4 mile race in 5th place earning a spot on the podium with a time of 1:02:14.
