Garrett College Announces Workforce Scholarships Availability at Deep Creek Lake, MD

Garrett College’s Continuing Education & Workforce Development (CEWD) division recently announced the availability of scholarships for adults seeking to obtain certification as Certified Clinical Medical Assistants (CMAs), Phlebotomists, and Medical Billing/Coding professionals.

“Our goal is to remove financial obstacles for those who are passionate about contributing to the healthcare sector,” said Julie Yoder, dean of Continuing Education & Workforce Development. “By providing these scholarships, we hope to empower individuals to gain the qualifications they need to start or advance their careers as Clinical Medical Assistants, Phlebotomists, or Medical Billing and Coding professionals.”

The scholarships have multiple funding sources, including the Garrett College Foundation, the Maryland Higher Education Commission Workforce Development Sequence Scholarship, the CEWD Institutional Scholarship; and the County-funded GC STARS Scholarship. Yoder said the scholarships “are designed to support individuals who demonstrate a strong commitment to pursuing a career in healthcare, and have a clear plan for how they will utilize their new skills in the workforce.”
