Some new events were added to the Autumn Glory schedule and another event has been cancelled. With great disappointment, the Town of Oakland and GOBA have cancelled the 2021 Maryland State Banjo, Fiddle, and Mandolin Championships.

Swing by 6438 rock lodge rd and check out the Petunia Patch cart — It’s finally tomato season in the “tundra”! Next week will have lots of flowers, tomatoes, winter squash, pumpkins and more.

Funds are still available in the Online Sales & Telework Assistance COVID-19 Relief Grant program.  Approved applicants may receive up to $7,500 in grant funding for eligible expenses incurred. Grant funds will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

A business listening session regarding the nationwide workforce shortage issues and a lack of affordable workforce housing is being held on September 20 from 9:00am at Ace’s Run Restaurant and Pub.

Here’s the first Maryland Fall Foliage Report for 2021, brought to you by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. Fall has not yet begun in Maryland and many trees across the state are still a bit bashful about revealing their fall finest before the season officially kicks off September 22.


Some state park events are the History of the Scarecrow, Garden Tours, Aviary Tour, Hayrides, Brant Mine Hike, Tracking and Stalking, Dutch Oven Cooking Demos, Herp Hike, A Park of Champions, and a Bird Walk.

The 2021 FSU Appalachian Festival is this weekend.

The Garrett County Rabies Program continues tonight at 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm and tomorrow at 10:00 am – 11:00 am.

The Crossroads Birthday Bash is tonight at 6:00 pm.

The Deep Creek Lake Property Owners General Membership Meeting will be at Garrett 8 Cinemas at 8:30am tomorrow, September 18.

Tomorrow from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm is Friendsville Fun Day. Swing by the Friendsville Library on the first and third Saturdays of each month to enjoy hours of fun for all ages!

The southern home football game is tomorrow, September 18, at 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm. (the home game vs. Fort Hill is held on Saturday since there are no lights on the new turf field yet).

Alpine Lake Resort’s Oktoberfest event is noon to dusk! Come one come all! Open to the public! Located at ALR boathouse. No admission fee, just $ for delicious food and drink!
