So many things are happening in our area this week as we celebrate July 4th! To maintain a healthy mind and body, having a plan for scheduled time to devote to yourself is important and helps as we strive to reach our movement goals. The peaceful Paddle is scheduled for July 2nd. Kayaks or paddleboards are free to use for this program, which begins at 8:00 AM, and instruction for both is available if needed. Let’s keep moving and enjoy another beautiful week in Garrett County! This program is managed by the Garrett County Health Department’s Population Health, Innovation, and Informatics Unit, with support from CareFirst. As you work, you'll learn how to identify common weeds and why protecting native plants is so critical for wildlife. Meet at the native plant garden near the Lake House. The hunt begins at 9:30 AM on Tuesday at Polska Polish Pottery at Dry Dock Plaza (next to McDonald's). Teams will receive the rules and will have two hours to complete a series of tasks. Each task earns points for your team. The top 3 teams will each receive a gift! Prizes will be awarded at 9:30 AM on Wednesday at Polska Polish Pottery. Team costumes are encouraged! Food will be distributed beginning at 11:00 AM on a first-come, first-served basis and is limited to 100 boxes. To receive a box, participants will be asked to complete a screener.
