Wisp Resort will host its annual Stage Wisp Concert Series during Summer 2024. The free 9-week concert series will showcase a wide variety of musical entertainment every Wednesday from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM in July and August plus the 4th of July. Beginning at 5:00 PM, the Farm and Art Market will welcome guests to shop and mingle with local vendors and artisans who offer an array of fresh produce, gifts, and unique goods. Guests are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs, blankets, and dancing shoes. Food and drink, including seasonal brews and barbeque, will be available for sale. Should inclement weather come across the mountain, the event will be held in the McHenry Lodge. Defy gravity with rocket engineering. Have you ever wondered what it takes to send a rocket to space? Gravity- the force that pulls things down to earth, can make rocket launching tricky, but not impossible. Youth will use engineering skills to build a straw rocket to launch into space to see who can reach the farthest planet. New Germany State Park will host Junior Ranger "Park Pals", a free program designed for children ages 5-7, every Thursday from July 11 through August 8. Each week will feature a nature-themed program, such as identifying mammals, searching for amphibians and reptiles, fishing, growing mushrooms, and arts and crafts. All children must be supervised by a parent or guardian. The programs are free (supported by the Friends of New Germany State Park), but donations are welcome. Join the naturalists at the Discovery Center to learn how to partake in one of the best pastimes Deep Creek has to offer– fishing! Kids between 7-15 will learn skills that will help on their own fishing adventures. Registration is required. Registration can be done at the Discovery Center desk with a $5 payment. Guardians must remain present during fishing.

Food will be distributed beginning at 11:00 AM on a first-come, first-served basis and is limited to 100 boxes. To receive a box, participants will be asked to complete a screener. This program will educate youth on the different wildlife they may see in their daily lives. Students will dive deep as they explore information about these animals’ lives. They will learn about the importance of water safety and will be instructed on how to know if a lifejacket properly fits someone. As well as educating them on how to rescue someone in a near-drowning situation by showing them how to use a throw bag!
