Sang Run State Park 3735 Sang Run Road, McHenry, MD, United StatesThe Mountain Laurel Garden Club is hosting a native plant sale on Saturday, August 3, 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, at Sang Run State Park, 3735 Sang Run Rd., McHenry. There are 23 species of native plants, with a total of over 750 plants for sale. Notable plants include Sweet Black-eyed Susan (taller and bushier than traditional Black-eyed Susan with hundreds of blooms for weeks), two varieties of Aster and Joe Pye Weed, Bee Balm, Cardinal Flower, Great Blue Lobelia, Boneset, Coreopsis, and three varieties of native Milkweed. The sale also includes two plants that deer do not like: Mountain Mint and Eastern Bluestar. The club recommends planting the native plants in groups of three or five for the best show of blooms to attract pollinators. Proceeds from the plant sale will be used by MLGC for the continued beautification of our communities and to encourage gardening and sound conservation practices through club activities and programs, including educational programs at Sang Run State Park. The club offers an annual $1000 scholarship through the Garrett College Foundation and partners with local organizations in support of youth environmental education and civic beautification.
