The 2024 Becoming an Outdoors-Woman Workshop will take place from August 9-11, 2024, in Garrett County. This 3-day workshop is for beginners who want to improve their skills or learn new ones, focusing on outdoor skills and designed primarily for women, 18 years or older. Registration will open on Tuesday, June 25th at 12:00 PM, and it is first-come, first-served with spots filling up quickly. Completing the registration does not guarantee a spot; you will be notified of your placement in the workshop or on the waiting list. Check here for the weekend schedule and class information.

The Baltimore-based Ann Street Trio is devoted to performing chamber music from the classical era to the 21st century. Comprised of several of Baltimore’s finest musicians, the Ann Street Trio believes in engaging their audience through creative programming and conversation and strives to give them an up-close look at the creativity and excitement of chamber music. The Ann Street Trio reaches audiences through chamber music series in the region, university engagements, and private salon concerts. With years of diverse performance experience, each member brings a particular expertise to their interpretation. Erik Franklin teaches clarinet at Towson University, Katlyn DeGraw is the Associate Principal Cellist of the Maryland Symphony Orchestra, and Hui-Chuan Chen performs recitals nationally and internationally alongside teaching at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Join Ranger Noah for this month's Book Club meeting and share your thoughts on "My First Summer in the Sierra" by John Muir. Reflection House has embarked on a fundraising and public awareness campaign to support the Reflection House: Garrett County’s First Residential Recovery House for Women. We also want to educate the community and eliminate the stigma associated with substance use disorder. This 2-mile trail route or 1-mile paved course is open to all as a way to unify and strengthen our community. We will walk to raise awareness about this important issue and share the positive message that behavioral health is essential to overall health, prevention works, treatment is effective and people can and do recover. REGISTER HERE FOR THE WALK There is a suggested $10 donation to participate although no amount is required. Every person registered to walk will receive a t-shirt. Want to help preserve our regional biodiversity? Bring your work gloves, kneeling pads, favorite weeding tools, and some elbow grease to remove unwanted plants from the garden. As you work, you'll learn how to identify common weeds and why protecting native plants is so critical for wildlife. Meet at the native plant garden near the Lake House. Please bring your own water bottle, insect repellent, and sunscreen.

The hunt begins at 9:30 AM (but teams are welcome to join until 6:00 PM) on Tuesday at Polska Polish Pottery at Dry Dock Plaza (next to McDonald's). Teams will receive the rules and will have two hours to complete a series of tasks. Each task earns points for your team. The top 3 teams will each receive a gift!
