The Town of Friendsville will conduct its Fall Leaf Pick-Up starting Monday, September 28, through Monday, November 23, 2026. Please follow these collection guidelines: Place all leaves at the edge of your property along the roadway in a pile, not a row. Ensure piles are free of sticks, branches, flowers, and other debris. Note that collection dates are weather permitting. Help keep Friendsville clean and beautiful this autumn!

On Thursday, October 8, at 6:30 PM, world-renowned prairie dog researcher John Hoogland, author of the definitive new book, Prairie Dogs: Ecology and Social Behavior, will present as part of the Watershed Moments Community Learning series at the Appalachian Laboratory in Frostburg, Maryland. Annual Fireman’s Parade in Oakland, Maryland, takes place on Thursday evening, October 8, 2026, at 7:00 PM as part of the 59th Annual Autumn Glory Festival. The procession features local fire, EMS, and law enforcement vehicles, bands, and community groups through downtown Oakland.
