There are those in our community with empty bowls. Let's help fill them. Empty Bowls Garrett comes to Wisp Resort on Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Share a soup supper in support of local food programs, and take home a keepsake handmade bowl. Proceeds benefit local food programs from Garrett County Community Action, including the 360 Access Hub, Meals on Wheels, senior dining halls, the emergency food pantry, and more. Looking for a fun group activity that also helps the community? Deep Creek Pottery invites you to gather your friends, coworkers, or club and make an empty bowl to help fight hunger in Garrett County. Gather a group of at least 6 people. Cost is $10-$15 per person. Set up a time that works for your group, and bring snacks and wine if you'd like. Make a bowl using pinch, coil, or slab techniques under the guidance of a skilled potter -- or paint an already-fired bowl with help from the instructor. Your bowls will be fired, finished, and donated to the Empty Bowls Dinner this fall, which raises funds to fight food insecurity in Garrett County. Go home knowing your group did something good for the community while having fun together. The Empty Bowls Dinner will be held on September 20, 2026, at Wisp Resort for the benefit of Garrett County Community Action Food Security Programs. The Silent Book Club of Oakland, brought to you in partnership with the Friends of the Ruth Enlow Library, is definitely what the doctor ordered! Choose anything to read that appeals to you, then discuss with friends old and new! The Silent Book Club meets on the third Sunday of every month at the Green Room Lounge (119 S.
