Learning Beyond the Classroom Bus is Back! The Learning Beyond the Classroom Bus is officially out of hibernation and ready to roll again this month! We’re excited to bring fun, hands-on learning experiences to families in our community. Exciting Announcement! We are adding a NEW bus stop at Route 40 Elementary School! The bus will visit the Friday before Bus Week each month (except for May, when it will be Thursday due to a scheduling conflict).

Garrett County Department of Social Services Assistance Program

Ruth Enlow Library - Grantsville 102 Parkside Drive, Grantsville

Occurring on the 1st & 3rd Tuesday of the month at the Grantsville branch, representatives from the Garrett County Department of Social Services will be in the library to serve the community through their assistance outreach program. Customers can come see a DSS staff person at any of these locations to pick up paperwork, drop off paperwork, apply for services like SNAP, CASH Assistance, and Medical Assistance, or just to ask questions about the programs and services offered by our agency. Staff can also provide a referral to other community agencies if we do not have a program to address the person’s needs. ANYONE can access ANY of these locations. This schedule provides flexibility to our customers who may be working in communities away from their home or who may be facing transportation challenges. These locations also provide support to our customers by making DSS forms available to customers during the location’s open hours of business. Customers can look for the file box labeled “DSS FORMS” to pick up forms, information, or a pre-paid envelope in which to return completed forms to our office for processing. The Garrett County Department of Health is hosting a Mobile Health Insurance Clinic for in-person assistance with Maryland Health Connection every third Tuesday of the month from 1:30-4:30. They will assist Maryland residents with health insurance needs.
