Join the naturalists at the Discovery Center to learn how to partake in one of the best pastimes Deep Creek has to offer– fishing! Kids between 7-15 will learn skills that will help on their own fishing adventures. Registration is required. Registration can be done at the Discovery Center desk with a $5 payment. Guardians must remain present during fishing.

Food will be distributed beginning at 11:00 AM on a first-come, first-served basis and is limited to 100 boxes. To receive a box, participants will be asked to complete a screener. Our Outreach Team, along with other Community Partners, will be joining the exchanges to provide health education and connect individuals to needed resources. This program will educate youth on the different wildlife they may see in their daily lives. Students will dive deep as they explore information about these animals’ lives. They will learn about the importance of water safety and will be instructed on how to know if a lifejacket properly fits someone. As well as educating them on how to rescue someone in a near-drowning situation by showing them how to use a throw bag!
