Deep Creek Volunteer Fire Company Announces Capital Improvement Plan

Deep Creek Volunteer Fire Company announces a Capital Improvement plan. The Focus of the plan will be the expansion and completion of their current facility. Improvements consist of offices, sleeping quarters, lounge, kitchen, and locker rooms for volunteer and career staff, as well as training and conference areas to facilitate training and community programs. 1.2 million dollars has been appropriated in Governor Moore’s Fiscal year 2024 Budget.

“The expansion will allow for quicker responses with refreshed responders, the capital improvement plan will allow the Deep Creek Volunteer Fire Company to meet the future needs of the area,” said Jason King, Fire Chief of the Deep Creek Volunteer Fire Company.

The Deep Creek Volunteer Fire Company wishes to thank Governor Moore for his unprecedented support. The Fire Company would also like to thank Delegate Jim Hinebaugh, Senator Mike McKay, Retired Senator George Edwards, the Garrett County Commissioners, and above all the community for their continued support.

“It is through sustained and invaluable partnerships that Maryland’s emergency response system will thrive,” said Gov. Moore. “The $1.2 million investment will expand opportunities for the Deep Creek Volunteer Fire Company to continue serving the Garrett County community when they need it most.”

The Deep Creek Volunteer Fire Company was charted in 1966 to provide fire and rescue services to the Deep Creek area. It currently operates as an Engine, Rescue, and Ladder Company, with rural and urban capabilities. The DCVFC provides a plethora of water rescue services including Ice, Swift, and Dive Rescue operations.
