A recent study ranks the US states by the average monthly earnings of teenagers in summer jobs after adjusting for the cost of living. Maryland teens earn an average of $866 per month, slightly below the national average of $880.
In 2022, the Garrett County Health Department received 2,050 hours of volunteer service from 115 individuals. Ryan Amburgey and Dr. Charles Lefebure were recognized for volunteering over 100 hours each, while eligible volunteers were invited to a celebration in March.

End of the Line Books, a nonprofit used bookstore situated in the boxcar at the B&O Railway Station on East Liberty Street in Oakland, MD, will reopen for the summer season on Saturday, May 20, 2023.
