Garrett County resident Robert Pattison is advancing his career through the Aspiring Nurse Program at Garrett Regional Medical Center. Working full-time as an ER technician at GRMC and a paramedic for Garrett County Emergency Services, Pattison has always been passionate about caring for others. His experience with commercial ambulance services led him to choose a small community hospital.

The Forage Center held its annual Coastal Promise Humanitarian Simulation on July 12-14, 2024, in Swanton, Maryland. This fourth exercise in Garrett County aimed to prepare students for careers in humanitarian response and peacebuilding.

This free Junior Ranger program for kids ages 5-7 happens every Thursday and features nature-themed activities like identifying mammals, searching for amphibians, fishing, growing mushrooms, and arts and crafts. Parental supervision required.

Take part in Polska Polish Pottery’s weekly Tuesday Scavenger Hunt benefiting local charities! Gather your team (up to 20 teams) for a thrilling competition starting at 9:30 AM (teams can arrive at 6:00 PM) at Dry Dock Plaza, next to McDonald’s. All participation fees will be donated to Dove Center.

It’s Hikin’ Day! Tag along with a ranger for Butterfly Hike & Craft at Sang Run State Park to identify butterflies and make a fun butterfly craft in the Friends Store. Ranger Noah leads Take a Hike Tuesday at New Germany Lake House, a challenging 4-mile hike showcasing the revitalizing effects of outdoor exercise. A naturalist will guide the Herp Hike at Deep Creek Lake State Park, where you can discover native reptiles and amphibians on a park stroll.
