The weather today will be patchy fog in the morning. Mostly cloudy in the morning, then partly sunny, with a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon–highs in the upper 70s. West winds of around 5 mph. The chance of rain is 50%.

Summer is here, making it a great time to fish in western Maryland. At Deep Creek Lake, bass are active near docks, while perch, crappie, and pickerel can be found along grass lines. Try deep trolling near the dam for trout. See the July 9 Fishing Report for more.

Josh Montgomery won the DNR’s Waterfowl Photo Contest! His image will appear on a new hard-card license through the MD Outdoors system.

Expect intermittent single-lane closures on US 40 near Hagerstown this Friday, July 11, for bridge work over I-70. All lanes are set to reopen by July 31, weather permitting.

The Western Maryland Economic Future Investment Board has released its 2024 report on the Senator George C. Edwards Fund. This year, $5.8 million in grants were awarded to projects in Garrett County, with a projected $43.5 million economic impact and 122 new jobs. Investments focus on housing, healthcare, business growth, and infrastructure.
