State Highway Administration to Close Lanes on US 40 (National Pike) for Bridge Project in Washington County

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will have intermittent single-lane closures in both directions of US 40 (National Pike) near Hagerstown as part of construction on the US 40 (National Pike) bridge over I-70 this Friday, July 11. All lanes should reopen by the night of July 31, weather permitting.

Motorists can expect the single-lane closures to be intermittent and over a period of approximately three weeks between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM  Weather permitting, the entire bridge project is expected to be completed by the end of the fall.

The State Highway Administration’s contractor Triton Construction, Inc., from St. Albans, WV will use electronic message boards, signs, barrels and cones to notify motorists about the work zone, road closure and detour.  Signs will guide motorists through the detour. Motorists are encouraged to stay alert, slow down and focus on driving safely through work zones.
