December 7, 2022: It is Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. A day to honor and remember the 2,403 service members and civilians who were killed on this day in 1941. Also, today is my granny’s birthday in Heaven. Thinking of my family today and wishing I could just have one more, good, “Lee Lee” hug.

The weather today will be rainy, mainly in the morning. Patchy fog, with highs in the upper 50s and a low of 41. West winds of around 5 to 10 mph, with gusts up to 25 mph. The chance of rain is 80%.

Garrett County Public Schools is looking for members to serve on a committee to look at potential school closings.

Reports find that paying cash to people for losing a specific amount of weight or completing weight-reducing activities works better than offering stand-alone free tools, such as weight-loss programs, diet books, and wearable fitness trackers.

Maryland State Parks will again mark the new year by offering hike opportunities from December 30, 2022, through January 2, 2023. First Day Hikes are part of a nationwide initiative led by America’s State Parks that encourages all 50 states to offer outdoor hiking opportunities to start the new year.

Garrett County New Drivers: Let’s Drive! Scholarships will again be offered to Northern and Southern High School, and Home Schooled students to provide students with a Driver’s Education course.

The Board of County Commissioners will have its public meeting today at 4:00 PM. The meeting will also be live-streamed at https://www.facebook.com/garrettcountygovernment/.
