Fishing is heating up at Deep Creek Lake and Jennings Randolph Reservoir! Walleye are hitting after sunset along rocky shores, and smallmouth bass are nesting close to shore—perfect for topwater catch-and-release. Largemouth bass are hanging near floating docks and biting on soft plastics. Don’t forget, the first two Saturdays in June are free fishing days—no license needed, so it’s a great time to take a friend! Check out the fishing report for all the latest updates.

Senior Deputy State Fire Marshal Adam Rounds of the Western Regional Office has been named the 2024 Deputy State Fire Marshal of the Year for the Western Region. Attorney General Anthony G. Brown has issued a consumer alert about a scam targeting Marylanders searching for lost pets. Scammers are posing as staff from trusted shelters like BARCS, the Maryland SPCA, and Talbot Humane.

In response to flooding and the State of Emergency, Maryland Insurance Commissioner Marie Grant has directed insurers to suspend time limits on medication refills and equipment replacements for residents in Garrett and Allegany counties. Insurers must also pause cancellations on auto, home, health, and other personal policies in the affected areas.
