Trail system is in the town of Oakland, MD., in a riding area called Broadford Lake Park.
Arf’ Arf’ and Arf’ is a pea gravel trail with a gentle, rolling track. This is good for an introduction to trail and mountain bike riding. It’s a bit narrower than a rail trail (like the C&O Canal Towpath), but is great for families and riders of all ages. There are a few wooden features that are for more experienced riders; note to check out a feature before you ride it. IMBA guidance advises to “Preride, Reride, Freeride” to get comfortable with a trail. And always ride within your abilities.
The trail’s direction is rotated regularly based on signage to help reduce braking bumps, curbs, and erosion. Hikers and Bikers are encouraged to go in opposite directions to promote increased visibility.
