Arrowhead Cove Dredging Update

The following is an update from Bruce Michael, the Garrett County government’s Deep Creek Lake and Watershed Coordinator.

The Arrowhead Cove dredging project is moving along quickly. Byco had removed over 85% of the accumulated sediment by the end of the day on Tuesday, January 3. They anticipate the sediment removal to be completed by the end of the week. Maryland Environmental Service will conduct a drone survey to verify the sediment volume removed..

If all goes as planned, Byco will remove the small cofferdam at the Arrowhead Run that feeds the Cove on January 5 to allow the Cove to fill. The main cofferdam might be removed on January 8. We are holding conference calls to discuss volume confirmation, the timing of removing the cofferdams, and the next steps for site stabilization. I will let you know the timing of the cofferdam removal once I have confirmation from Byco and MES. Once the timing has been confirmed, we will update our website.
