Garrett County’s SECOND ANNUAL Big Funky Blues Festival is set to light up the summer stage on Saturday, July 13th, at the Garrett County Fairgrounds. Gates open at 10:00 a.m. and the festival runs until 9:00 p.m. This awesome event is brought to you by OMG Relax, a relaxing gift shop and Medical Breakthrough Massage Chairs™ spa located at The Fort in McHenry.
This year’s festival promises an unforgettable experience for music lovers, families, and anyone looking for a day filled with entertainment and community spirit. From 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., attendees will be treated to performances from eight outstanding bands, including Hambone Wilson, a dynamic guitarist and soulful vocalist; the Billy Price Band, a Blues Music Award-winning act; Tommy Lepson and the Bad Dawgs, renowned for their R&B and blues prowess; Sonny Petrosky’s Don’t Tell Suzie, featuring solid bass grooves and strong vocals; The Boneshakers, an iconic band with members who have toured with legends like Bonnie Raitt and BB King; Music Cafe Tribute, a collaboration of world-class musicians; Deanna Bogart, an award-winning bandleader and multi-instrumentalist; and Paul Reed Smith’s Eightlock Band, known for their unique blend of Baltimore funk and New Orleans swing.
The festival is designed for fun for all ages. The enormous Kid’s Zone is packed with activities including a game truck, face painting, balloons, magic, crafts, and more. Plus, kids 12 and under get in for free! Attendees can also browse an amazing array of local crafters and artisans, and witness live demonstrations of axe throwing, glass blowing, and blacksmithing.
Food lovers will enjoy the diverse offerings at the food court, featuring a wide array of mouthwatering food and desserts. Beer, wine, and a variety of non-alcoholic drinks will be available as well.
A portion of each ticket sale benefits Appalachian Crossroads, a local non-profit dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities through community living, employment support, and day services.
Tickets are $55 for ages 13 and up, and free for kids 12 and under. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets, and pop-up canopies (permitted in designated areas) to enjoy the festival comfortably. Please note that pets are not permitted on the fairgrounds. Wristbands will be provided upon entry, allowing for re-entry throughout the day.
