Garrett County Public Schools has officially announced the closure of Southern Middle School for extensive renovations to transform it into the new Broad Ford Elementary. A public auction of fixtures, furniture, and equipment from Southern Middle School will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024, starting at 9:00 AM. at 605 Harvey Winters Dr., Oakland, MD. The auction is hosted by GCPS and will be conducted by Custer’s Auction Service.

The group will take a short walk on the trails to see who can fill out their bingo boards first (0.5 miles) at Deep Creek Lake State Park.

Gather outside the Lake House for a history talk with Ranger Noah. Take a step back in time and learn about the history of New Germany State Park, from the early German settlers to the park you see today. This history talk will be offered periodically throughout the summer.
