I bought a Jeep over the weekend at Auto Land Jeep Chrysler in Accident. I had Jackie as my salesperson. I think it was the most stress-free vehicle purchasing experience I have ever had. Nice, honest folks and very laid back. And, no they are not advertisers, just giving them a nice shout-out from a satisfied customer.

Come on, you know you need some fresh air! Get some air and watch the Northern Girls Soccer team host Mountain Ridge this evening at 6:00pm.

Just heard from Michelle Ross that GOBA is sponsoring a Garrett Reads Festival this Friday, from 9:30am – 2:00pm for about 500 local first and second graders celebrating literacy and books with the support and participation of local businesses. They will visit a number of fun learning stations throughout the day. Note that Liberty Street from first to second will be closed to traffic.

The Chamber presented Business and Industry Appreciation awards at yesterday’s Business Before Hours event. Happy to see lots of new businesses in the county along with lots of expansions and milestones. Here are some of the honorees (photo from the Chamber):

This sounds fun! The Springs Historical Society and the Meyersdale Public Library are joining forces to preserve early photos of the Southwest PA area and to archive them for future reference. A free photo workshop will be held Saturday Sept. 22nd in Springs, PA. A photo expert from the Carnegie Museum will share tips on preserving photos at 1:00 pm and there is a morning session, too.

Each year the Community Development Network of Maryland honors organizations engaging in extraordinary community development work. The deadline is October 5th, 2018 at close of business. Awardees will be honored at their Annual Meeting on October 24, 2018.

The Garrett County Board of Education at its September 11, 2018, meeting, discussed possible scenarios regarding school configuration options as part of the RISE Strategic Plan. The Board is seeking public input regarding the options.
