Today’s weather will be partly sunny, with a high near 69 and a low around 51.

This may be too late for some readers, but we just heard that the Chamber has cancelled this morning’s planned session “What Can the Chamber Do for You? Come to Orientation and Find Out!”  They say more information to follow about a reschedule.

The Ruth Enlow Library is holding their monthly Homeschooler Series this afternoon from 2:00pm – 3:00pm at the Accident branch.  For students and their families.

Congratulations to Garrett College freshman Zack Harvey, who earned a berth in the NJCAA Division III national golf tournament, carding an 18-hole total of 157 last Monday and Tuesday to finish fifth at the Region XX championships. Very impressive performance.

Garrett College is offering a Maryland Boater Safety course at the College’s McHenry campus on Saturday, June 9th, from 8:30am to 5:00pm. The course provides the basic information one will need to boat safely and enjoy your time on the water.  Contact the college at 301.387.3069 for more information or to register.

According to the credit agency Experian, Maryland, with a 0.09% foreclosure rate by unit, ranks third highest in the nation, well above the national average of 0.06%.  They didn’t provide any insight at the county-level, but that would be interesting.

Comptroller Peter Franchot will be here in Garrett County today as part of a promotion for statewide pre-summer family-friendly venues. Franchot will start at the Simon Pearce Factory Store and Glassblowing Workshop, visit Lakeside Creamery and present the William Donald Schaefer Helping People Award for Garrett County to Landon’s Library at the Garrett County Transportation Museum.
