In accordance with the Garrett County Public Schools calendar, there will be a 3-hour early student dismissal tomorrow, Thursday, December 23, 2021, to begin the winter break. All schools and GCPS offices will close at 1:30 p.m. that day and will remain closed through reopening on Monday, January 3, 2022.

The Garrett County Health Department has openings available in their TOPS – Taking Off Pounds Sensibly – weight-loss support group. The group meets each Wednesday from 4-5:15 p.m. at the GCHD office in Oakland. Call 301-334-7730 to find out more or to sign up. TOPS, a nonprofit, noncommercial weight-loss support organization, encourages members to make small, steady lifestyle changes that provide lasting weight loss and better health.

NOTE the Garrett County Waste and Recycling Collection Sites are OPEN tomorrow, Thursday, on an adjusted holiday schedule.

Oakland Church of the Nazarene continues the dinner and discussion at 5:30 PM today. It will focus on the discipleship time reflecting on Advent and using the resource “Come Peasant, King” provided this Advent season.
