The Mountain Fresh Summer Farmers Market is open today at the Oakland Pavilion from 10:00am -1:00pm. Fresh, good, locally produced fruit, vegetables and more.

The Property Owners Association of Deep Creek Lake has been hearing a lot of complaints about Wake Surfing on the lake and feels there may be some confusion about the “regulations.” Here’s a link to the POA site that spells-out some of the regulations.

You can Buzz Into Pollination today at the Discovery Center at Deep Creek State Park from 11:00am – 1:00pm.  You can learn about bees and other pollinators and their importance in food production and even get a tasty treat.

Color yourself relaxed at this evening’s Adult Coloring Club at the Accident branch of the Ruth Enlow Library from 5:00pm – 6:30pm.

The Still Brewing Band is appearing this evening at Stage at Wisp Concert Series on the lawn. It is a free concert with food and drink available for purchase. Bring a chair or blanket and be ready for the 6:30pm start of the concert.

There’s a free acoustic rock jam at Moonshadow in McHenry this evening from 7:00pm – 9:00pm.  All are welcome to bring an instrument or just come on by and listen and enjoy some nice food and drinks too.

Check out the fun and free Team Trivia this evening at the Greene Turtle in McHenry starting at 7:00pm. Any number can be on a team and you can win Turtle prizes.  You can check out their half-price appetizers from 3:00pm – 6:00pm and then settle down for some drinks and/or great food while you play Team Trivia.

Michelle Ross from Oakland City Hall needs two volunteers for Little Yough Music Festival concert this Friday evening at the pavilion in Oakland.  She had two of her volunteers cancel due to an emergency. If you can help her out call her at 301.334.2691

Don’t forget the 14th annual Art, Wine & Beer Festival will be here on September 8th at the Garrett County Fairgrounds in McHenry.  There are dinner specials starting before the event at local eateries and lodging specials too.  I also heard they need additional volunteers so please consider helping out that day.

This week is Shop Maryland Tax-Free week! According to Comptroller Peter Franchot’s office, “Through Saturday August 18, any single qualifying article of clothing or footwear priced $100 or less – regardless of how many items are purchased at the same time – will be exempt from the state’s six percent sales tax. The first $40 of any backpack or bookbag purchase is also tax-free.”

In conjunction with Shop Tax-Free, the state retailers association is also running a social media contest — the prizes are $1,000 and $2,500 scholarships to MD college or University.
