Many community partners, including University of Maryland Extension, Garrett County Government, Garrett College, Department of Natural Resources, Deep Creek Watershed Foundation, Mountain Laurel Garden Club, and the Western Mountains Chapter of Maryland Native Plant Society teamed up in early 2019 to convert the popular Bay-Wise conservation landscaping program to Water-Wise for Garrett County. Water-Wise is a voluntary certification program that allows property owners to be recognized for implementing best management practices in their lawns and gardens. Landowners can help reduce pesticides, increase water quality, provide wildlife habitat, and much more! Check out the yardstick and see if your property measures up to 36″! Garrett County Master Gardeners will be visiting your site to complete the certification process after which you will receive a small metal sign to display in your landscape.
Official kick off and roll out of the Water-Wise program in Garrett County!!!!!!! Virtual and FREE!
