Yesterday was rainy most of the day. Today, we will see clouds then gradually becoming mostly sunny with a high near 70 a low around 62. Chance of showers mainly before noon.

Clean air means a clean lake! Unfortunately, on Friday, the EPA signed a final agency decision denying Maryland’s petition for relief asking out-of-state power plants to run their already installed pollution control equipment in order to reduce emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx), which contribute to ground-level ozone problems downwind in Maryland.

S.T.E.A.M. Kids is being held at the Oakland Branch of the Ruth Enlow Library this afternoon from 2:00pm – 3:30pm.

The Southern Garrett High School Volleyball team earned over $800 through a car wash this weekend– a special shoutout to First United Bank & Trust for hosting!

All Chamber members are invited to attend the next Marketing Roundtable on Wednesday, September 19th from 11:00am – 12:00pm in the Chamber conference room. They will be hosting Ruth Toomey, Executive Director of the Maryland Tourism Coalition (MTC). This event is free but there is limited seating and registration is required.

The Deep Creek Lake Lion’s Club fifth annual “Bark in the Park” 5k race will take place on Saturday September 22nd at 8:00am to benefit their off-leash dog park. It’s an off-road (headphones OK), pet friendly race that will start and end from their park on Bumble Bee Road.

Speaking of the Lions Club, they need skiers, both adult and high school age, to serve as sighted guides, as well as a couple of snowboarders to take video and pictures, on Wisp this Winter for their Blind Skiers Program. Contact them to learn more about this great opportunity to serve.

Sarah and I are really looking forward to announcing the winners of the Deep Creek Times People’s Choice Challenge on September 25th at the Challenge Reception at Transportation museum in Oakland. All of the top finalists will be invited to hear the winners in each category.

The Greater Grantsville Business Association (GGBA) has announced a General Election candidate Forum to be held October 17th at Garrett College from 6:00pm – 8:00pm.  Thank you GGBA for stepping up and holding this event so that all may be more informed voters.
