The new mountain bike trails are open and complete at Deep Creek Lake State Park! On this linked map of the State Park, the trails indicated as “coming spring 2019” (yellow and purple) are open!

The first date of the three-class Maryland Hunter Education Course is tonight at New Germany State Park from 6:00 pm-9:00 pm. The class is for first-time hunters obtaining their hunter education certification. Students must attend all three sessions to be eligible. Any student under the age of 13 must have an adult (21 years of age or older) accompany them during all three sessions.

Deep Creek Lake water quality monitoring allows scientists and managers to form a baseline assessment of water quality conditions from which any future changes can be assessed. The 2019 sampling season is the third year in which nearshore, shallow water monitoring is the focus, with 25 nearshore locations being monitored in addition to four mainstem historic sites.

The Chamber’s Business & Industry Appreciation Business Before Hours is next Tuesday, Sept 17 from 8:00am – 9:30am. The organizers of the Savageman Race need bikers to escort lead runners Saturday and Sunday. Saturday report at 0945 and start leading athletes around 1020, done by 1215. Sunday report at 11 and start leading at 1145. Contact Steve Green if you can assist!
