Did you know that Swallow Falls State Park preserves one of only a few old-growth forests in Maryland?

The MD DNR just updated that the following fish have been stocked — the map has more details.

  • Youghiogheny River (D.H.): 500 rainbow trout
  • Youghiogheny River (C&R): 500 rainbow trout
  • Parkview Pond (Youth and Blind): 300 rainbow trout
  • Savage River: 500 rainbow trout

We were remiss in not mentioning Southern Garrett High School’s marching band’s Region 13 Championship over the weekend! Congratulations, kids! Way to go! Also, you can see a performance at the Oakland Halloween Parade tonight at the Oakland Community Center at 6:30pm.

Tonight is the Trunk or Treat and parade event at the Swanton Community Center. The costume parade through downtown Swanton begins at 6 PM. Trunk or Treat at appx 6:30. Costume judging & games to follow. Food & refreshments are available for purchase inside.

The Board of Garrett County Commissioners has announced the public meeting agenda for their November 4th meeting.
