Tuesday November 30

Scattered flurries, mixing with sprinkles after noon, then gradually ending. Cloudy early, then gradual clearing, with a high near 40 and a low around 29. West wind 9 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph.

Plan to attend the 150th celebration event kick-off next Monday, December 6 at the Garrett County Courthouse!

Check out this video on the Garrett County Health Department website today! (yes! it’s me!)

It was 28-degrees when we recorded the video (above) yesterday but Herrington Manor State Park was so beautiful!

Howdy Folks!! There is only 1 more day left to BID on items for Dove Center’s online auction. The online auction ends at 5 PM today – Tuesday Nov 30th! You may or may not know that the Dove Center has been unable to hold our annual Festival of Trees at the fairgrounds for 2 years now! As a blessed survivor of Domestic Violence, I am pleading to you to take a few moments and look at the really cool stuff up for auction! I am passionate and committed to supporting the Dove Center. My best friend in my whole life was killed at the age of 41. She left behind a 9 month old son! Domestic Violence occurs to 1 out of every 3 women that you meet! Let’s think about this, please. How many women did you encounter today? Was it more than 3? If it was, one of them has been abused. Our community is blessed to have the services that the Dove Center provides! We may have 1 in 3 women being abused, but let me tell you we have far more success stories of women and children getting counseling, gaining financial stability, and getting educated enabling them to acquire job stability. These critical successful steps are obtained for abused women and children due to the dedication of the staff at our Dove Center here in Oakland! Please — as a survivor — I urge you to explore the online auction! The Dove Center needs your support. Many blessings to you this holiday season.
Sincerely
A happy survivor
