The weather today will be showers and thunderstorms likely. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 72 and a low of 61. Light west wind. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. Overnight, showers, and possibly a thunderstorm and some of the storms could produce heavy rain. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

From the National Weather Service: The remnants of Ida and tropical moisture will interact with a stalled front Wednesday into early Thursday.

▪ Heavy tropical rains late tonight through early Thursday
▪ Severe thunderstorms possible Wednesday afternoon/evening
▪ Moderate tidal flooding possible Wednesday/Wednesday night
▪ Gale conditions possible Wednesday night
▪ River flooding possible Thursday through Friday or Saturday

The greatest threat is the potential for considerable flooding/flash flooding of creeks and urban areas Wed/Wed night. Scattered thunderstorms could produce damaging wind gusts or a brief tornado. The storm could bring 4-8 inches of rain.

Today is Garrett County Overdose Awareness Day and the public is invited to participate in a local event from 7:00pm – 9:00pm at the Glades Park Pavilion. The event seeks to create better understanding of overdose, reduce the stigma of drug-related deaths, and create change that reduces the harms associated with drug use.
