The weather today will be mostly sunny with scattered showers and thunderstorms in the morning, then showers and numerous thunderstorms in the afternoon—highs in the mid-70s and a low of 57. Southwest winds of around 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. The chance of rain is 80%.

The Maryland Park Service was awarded 15 improvement project grants (for few local projects, too) by the Friends of Maryland State Parks through the organization’s program, “Small Grants, Big Impact!” This funding is for projects that focus on conservation, environmental education, and outdoor recreation, and are important additions benefitting Maryland State Parks and their millions of visitors.

Environmental Health Services of the Garrett County Health Department reports the county’s second case of laboratory-confirmed rabies for the year 2022. The encounter occurred in the area of Old Morgantown Road on July 6, 2022, between a dog and a raccoon.
