I thought this photo is a neat perspective of a frosty leaf imprint on my car windshield! I’m not so happy that it’s cold enough to frost, though!

Anglers at Deep Creek Lake are seeing the coldwater fishery there jumping to life. Northern pike are active in the open cove areas, walleye are approaching steep rocky shores in the evenings, and yellow perch can be found along deep grass edges.

The next Business Before Hours will be held at 8 am on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 in the Crawford Room at Wisp Resort. The event will feature Tom Riford and Liz Fitzsimmons, from the Maryland Department of Commerce, who will be providing an update on the state’s strategies for promoting tourism. The Garrett County Health Department is making plans for the administration of COVID-19 vaccines to 5-11-year-olds. Clinics specifically for this age group will be scheduled the week of November 15th in Oakland and on the Northern End of the County.

There is a petition circulating to “Save Rocky Gap” State Park from privatization. Their site reads: “On October 6, 2021, the Task Force on the Economic Future of Western Maryland, co-chaired by State Senator George Edwards and Delegate Jason Buckel, recommended that “land within Rocky Gap State Park…could be developed by private businesses.”

Dinner and discussion continues at Oakland Church of the Nazarene on Wednesdays 5:30 pm-7 pm. Upcoming theme nights are November 10 – “Where’s the Beef?”, November 17 – “Thanksgiving Dinner”, and on November 24 there will not be a Gathering Event.

There is a Food Giveaway today from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm at the Grantsville Town Park. This is the final distribution of the year for Mountain Laurel Medical Center in partnership with the Maryland Food Bank and is only available while supplies last.
