I have been hearing about a new venture coming to downtown Oakland. Actually, it is two ventures in one. The Sipside Lounge, with a planned opening in October, will be offering craft beers, and fine wines and spirits. Sounds interesting.

Here’s a nice write-up from Lisa Cole’s Wildfulness blog on the upcoming Garrett County Celtic Festival to be held on Saturday, June 2nd.

Just heard that some local folks are trying to get Scottish Country Dancing going again at the end of the year and thought that having a Scottish Night, just after the Celtic Festival would introduce people to this fun activity. The event is June 6th and costs $60 for two. Call or email Victoria Buckel at 301 501-3990 or for more information and to purchase tickets.

On this last day of May, I thought I would share a few “tidbits” on the month:  May is named for Maia, a Greek goddess. In any given year, no month ever begins or ends on the same day of the week as May does (no, I did not verify this).  And, “across the pond” in the UK, the month of May is recognized as national smile month. Talk to you “next month!”
