Superintendent Invites Community to Connect Before the New School Year

As Garrett County Public Schools prepares for the start of the 2026-27 school year, Superintendent Dr. Nicole Miller invites students, families, staff, and community members to join her at several upcoming community events.

A longtime member of the Garrett County community, Dr. Miller believes that strong relationships are the foundation of strong schools. As she begins this school year as superintendent, she looks forward to spending time with students, families, staff, and community partners to hear their perspectives, learn where we can grow, celebrate successes, and gather ideas that will help shape the future of Garrett County Public Schools.

Dr. Miller will be attending the following events and invites community members to stop by, say hello, and connect with her.

  • August 5 – Garrett County Fair (GCPS Booth), 4:30 PM – 8:30 PM
  • August 14 – Stuff the Bus, Walmart in Oakland, 3:00 PM – 5:00PM
  • August 17 – Backed by Community Resource Fair, Garrett County Fairgrounds, 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
  • August 27 – WGW Kickoff Dinner, 5:30 PM – 9:00 PM

Even if you’re unable to attend one of these events, Dr. Miller welcomes opportunities to connect with students, families, staff, and community members throughout the school year.
