State Highway Administration to Replace Drainage Inlet on I-68 West in Allegany County

Motorists Should Expect an Overnight Ramp Closure and Detour for an Inlet Replacement on Westbound I-68 at Exit 40 in Allegany County

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will have an overnight closure of the I-68 west at Exit 40 (Vocke Road)to replace a highway drainage inlet on November 9 from 10 p.m.to 6 a.m., weather permitting.

Drivers can expect a ramp closure from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following morning. Traffic will be detoured using westbound I-68 at Exit 39.

Excavating Associates, Inc. of Hyndman, Pa., will be removing an existing inlet and replacing it with a new one. Crews will use signage, construction barrels and cones to assist motorists in navigating through the detour and the work zone.

The State Highway Administration is Serious About Safety. Pedestrians and motorists are urged to remain alert and avoid distractions when traveling through the work zone. Motorists should obey all posted speed limits. Motorists can dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
