State Highway Administration Announces Lane Closure for Slope Stabilization Project on I-68 in Garrett County

The Maryland State Highway Administration has begun a slope stabilization project on I-68 EB near Finzel in Garrett County. This project, which will require lane closure of the right lane (truck climbing lane) just prior to MD 546, is expected to be completed by the end of September, weather permitting.

The State Highway Administration’s construction partner, First Fruits of Ridgeley, WV, will use electronic message boards, signs, barrels, and cones to notify motorists about the work zone and lane closures. Crews from the contractor will be scaling to remove debris and stabilize the slope in that area.

Motorists are encouraged to stay alert, slow down, and focus on driving safely through the work zone.
