Spread the Word Inclusion

Garrett County Public Schools (GCPS) is Going All In(clusive) by spreading the word of inclusion. Today, March 1, 2023, we celebrate and bring awareness to inclusion with other schools, businesses, and organizations across the country. People with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) still face exclusion, social isolation, and social abuse in schools, workplaces, and communities.

The theme for 2023 is Going All In(clusive). This theme is action-oriented—a motivational rallying cry that doubles down on the belief that everyone is the goal of our efforts. Going All In(clusive) also means speaking up against the wrong and demeaning use of the R-word in conversations. It is part of an education effort that showcases that language informs attitudes and attitudes impact actions.

If you are ready to make a pledge for inclusion, visit https://www.spreadtheword.global/pledge. For additional information on activities happening locally, contact your school office or the Office of Special Education https://www.gcps.net/special-education.
