The second annual Garrett County Pride Festival, held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Friendsville Community Park, was a resounding success, bringing together hundreds of community members and visitors for a day of joy, unity, and celebration. Under the theme “Mountain Made, Mountain Proud,” the festival highlighted the LGBTQIA+ community in Western Maryland.
The event kicked off at 11 AM, with attendees greeted by a sea of rainbow colors throughout the park. From flags to painted faces, the festive atmosphere was impossible to miss. One of the memorable sights of the day, for our correspondent, came from a volunteer at the entrance, an older man with a long gray beard. He had colorfully dyed the bottom portion of his beard in shades of purple and other vibrant hues, adding a personal touch of fun that set the tone for the entire event.
Festival-goers enjoyed a full day of entertainment, including live music and performances by local and regional artists. The talent was exceptional, with performances that filled the air with excitement and energy. Alongside the musical acts, there were art exhibits, interactive installations, and community resources, providing something for everyone, from creative expression to informative activities. For families, there was no shortage of activities, including bouncy houses, a mini beach area, and a playground, ensuring fun for all ages.
“Joyous is the perfect word,” said our DCT correspondent. “There was absolute pure joy everywhere.”
The 2025 Garrett County Pride Festival continues to expand each year, it reflects the ongoing efforts to make Garrett County a welcoming and vibrant place for everyone.
