Trina Rumer was recently named the 2022 Safety Star of the Year at Garrett Regional Medical Center. Rumer works in the hospital’s environmental services department and is the inaugural recipient of the newly established safety star of the year award.

Rumer effectively applied the information she received during an annual hands-on training regarding the use of Evacusleds™, emergency evacuation sleds that can be used in any situation where a patient needs to be prepared for a quick and rapid evacuation.

“Patient safety is always at the forefront of everything we do at GRMC,” stated Mark Boucot, President and CEO of GRMC. “Trina is very deserving of our very first Safety Star of the Year Award. I sincerely appreciate her efforts in always making patient safety a priority.”

Each month, members of GRMC’s patient quality and safety council vote on a patient safety star from nominations received by employees. The safety star of the year award is selected by the GRMC administration based upon the monthly award recipients.
